Just some of the scenery we walked by. The buildings are all very new. The classroom had a touch screen widescreen display. It was impressive. When the teacher wasn't here, I turned on kpop, of course haha.
Got some books and gear.
Applied for a bank account today, and attended an opening ceremony and a lecture on the basics of teaching by Dr. Koh. The opening ceremony ended with these cute Korean kids playing the traditional Korean drums.
What Dr. Koh said about teaching made sense. She said it's important to not be nice and smile on the first day, because kids won't respect you. You can't take any shit at all from them, or else they'll nag you forever. She gave an example of a mom saying that her kids can't eat candy after 6pm. The kids go, moooooooommm pllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeasse! PLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSE!!!! Just OONNNEEE. And the mom says, okay fine, just this once, and gives the candy to the kids. Guess what? The kids will ask day after day for the same thing, because they got away with it once. You have to be strong and say No one million times. If the kids know asking is 100% hopeless, they won't do it.
It's the same with dogs too. When you're the alpha male of the pack, you don't take shit from anyone. If they do something bad, you immediately go after them and correct them. Never forgive. Have 0 lenience. I think my kids might cry the first day when I go to teach on the first day, lolololol.
We actually had a bus shuttle us too and from the lecture place for lunch and dinner. I think it's because there is a typhoon coming and they don't want to risk us getting stranded 3km from our housing.
The food we got was great. Our cafeteria always prepares this sample thing in a display window. It's kinda cute and fancy.
The dinner was great. It was a buffet. I ate so much.
Oh yeah, also worked out with some buddies today.
Hopefully I'll survive this Typhoon and live to tell the tale of tomorrow!
